Volkswagen just dropped details about its 2027 vehicles, and this might be the biggest product update the brand has made in a long time. A totally redesigned Atlas leads the way, and the ID. The 2027 Atlas Gets a Complete Makeover
This year's Atlas looks different from every angle. The sheet metal is all different, and both the front and rear lighting got reworked. It comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder pushing out 282 horsepower, making it the most powerful Atlas ever sold. Seven people can sit inside, and drivers can choose between front-wheel drive (FWD) and 4Motion all-wheel drive (AWD). Inside the cabin, a 15-inch infotainment screen takes center stage. There is Nappa leather covering the seats, and the front row gets a massage function. Seven airbags now come standard, including a new one between the front seats. The electric microbus sat out in 2026, but it returns with four trim options for 2027. You can get the Pro S RWD, Pro S 4Motion, Tourer 4Motion, or Pro S Plus 4Motion. That Tourer trim is made for people who like to camp. It has a fold-out sleeping platform with a mattress, window blinds, ventilation panels up front, and even comes with a table and chairs for outdoor use.
Software updates make the navigation screen quicker to respond this year. One-pedal driving is now an option, and a North American Charging System adapter comes in the box. Volkswagen added a throwback color scheme, too, with Candy White over Cherry Red and white wheels. It looks a lot like those old Type 2 buses from the 1960s. Updates Across the Rest of the Lineup
The Jetta and Jetta GLI pick up some tech this year. Base and Sport trims now have the Composition Media system, which adds satellite radio, voice commands, and two extra speakers. Keyless entry and push-button start are now part of the package.
The Volkswagen Taos gets a new Sport trim that slots above the base S. Black 18-inch wheels, roof rails, a rear spoiler, and yellow stitching inside give it a sportier look. Privacy glass comes standard on the base model, too.
On the Tiguan, every single trim now has a rearview camera. The SE R-Line Black adds a heated steering wheel as standard equipment, and Auto Hold is included across the board.
Golf GTI and Golf R Changes
Base GTI models gain automatic high-beam control and keyless entry for 2027. The Black Edition of the Golf R comes with dark emblems, wheels, calipers, and exhaust tips. A Euro Style Package ditches the sunroof and swaps in sport seats with titanium exhaust, shaving nearly 80 pounds off the car.
